Recently there has been a rise in the number of new categories made, and several of them were made incorrectly or did not include all the necessary information. The following is a "How To?" guide for those who might be new to the concept of categories, or maybe aren't sure if what they're doing is entirely correct.

Contents
[
show]

What is a category?

"A
category is a group of pages with a similar theme, such as characters, books, or places. You can add a category link to any page, and it will automatically be listed on a category page with other similarly linked pages."

The aim of categorization is to help organize the wiki and make it easier to find related content.

How to add categories?

At the bottom of the page where categories are listed, you are presented with the ability to add a category without hitting the edit button.

- Click on the "Add category", and start typing in a category name.
- You can use an already established category (suggestions will appear as you type) or create a new one.
- Once you are done, hit save and the category will appear on the article.

When to create/use categories?

As mentioned above categories are used to link similar pages, they are not solely used to describe the contents of a page. Therefore before creating a new category, find out if there is another page which relates to this one, if so then the category can be made/added to both pages.

How to edit the category page?

You can view a category by clicking the category name at the bottom of the regular page.

If you wish to add text to the category page itself (such as an explanation of the types of pages included), then go to the category page and click the button to create it. Edit it as you would a normal wiki page, and click publish. Your text will appear at the top of the page, followed by the list of pages in that category.

NOTE: It is essential that if you are making a category, it has been added to more than one page and the category page has description. All categories that fail to follow this will be deleted. For any doubts and inquiries please
